Limassol to Have its Very-Own “Wall Street” & Technology Park

Limassol is planning to develop its very-own Wall Street - a financial district by the sea, to become an estate marvel and an epicentre of international companies. 


 


“There will be an announcement by the end of the month for the start of building high-rise offices in the new area between Marina and the New Port – this is a programme that has been four years in the making. We intend to establish a financial centre here of the type found on Wall Street in New York. We will concentrate the banks, funds, forex businesses, etc. in this area”, the president of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and industry - Andreas Tsouloftas, said in an interview with Cyprus Mail.


 


To make the area more appealing, the city plans to increase the allowable building coefficient for the offices to be built in the area, granting companies from abroad the ultimate way of meeting their  office space goals. AKTEA Avenue will be passing right through the financial area, joining it up with the Marina.


 


Additionally, the technology park - a project which has been in the works since 2016 will finally begin this year. A wise move, given that Limassol is constantly attracting an increasing number of foreign tech companies, attracted by the city’s good infrastructure and pool of tech talent. 


 


“Limassol will also become a centre for the oil and gas industry, once the work on the Cyprus EastMed energy resources begins in about a year. Then there will be a large influx of people from the industry seeking offices and homes in our city. There are four large companies that will be working on the projects that emerge from our resources in that region. They will need onshore support”, Tsouloftas added.
